New Mazda 3 Revealed!!!

LA 2008: 2010 Mazda3 shows its smiling face [w/VIDEO] - Autoblog

From auto blog:

"Mazda has unveiled its 2010 Mazda3 sedan here at the LA Auto Show and we managed to snap some nice shots off as it was spinning around on a huge rotating stand. It's a good looking car that Mazda says carries on its "family face" with stylish bulges and creases that attract the eyes, and we're really looking forward to seeing the hatchback version as well. Underhood is a newly-enlarged 2.5-liter version of Mazda's MZR inline-four that offers up 167-horsepower and can be mated to either a 6-speed stick or 5-speed auto. As before, a standard 148-horsepower 2.0L four will be available and can be had with either a manual or auto tranny with 5 forward ratios each.

Considering the low price class in which the Mazda3 competes, features like dual-zone automatic climate control, Xenon self-leveling head lamps, push-button start and hands-free Bluetooth are very nice touches, as is the iPod integration and an optional leather interior. Increasingly important these days is fuel mileage, so the 3's low .29 coefficient of drag is an important piece of the overall efficiency puzzle and helps the 2010 Mazda3 hit 33 mpg on the highway with the smaller engine option. See the full press release past the break for all the details and be sure to check out our live shots below."

So by the time mazda au have finished with it we'll end up with a fan on the dash, a couple of Dolphin torches taped to the bonnet, a crank handle and the latest in morse code systems glued to the centre of the steering wheel...

anyways those are the american version, the AUS version is usually the stripped down barebones basic version that american market would not even take a 2nd look.

When I was in Los Angeles last week, I spotted many mazda 3 and they all look different somewhat, also the horsepower in american models are way higher than aus.

In america, they never buy cars with no electric this electric that and most cars sold in america are automatic, not manual.

either way i like it, may be a little over styled at the front but it fits into the range nicely, and 5 speed auto for the 2L....i like it but i just hope we get to see that option here and like skeem said i don't think we'll see many of the features list here....

would be ineresting to see the AU spec in the flesh. from a glance... the car looks like its smiling, and it looks like its ready for some off roading with that gap between the tyres and wheel arches.

also shoes look like adidas superstars "NY Knicks"- might be a knicks fan?

**edit**- profile looks like a lancer!!!!

Hi all;

Just got an e-mail from Mazda pointing out the Wheels article on their test drive in Iceland back in July.

Wheels - Iced 3 - Mazda 3

Note that the pictures include a (camouflaged) hatch for all you boat-lovers

They mention that the new 2.2L diesel engine is due for the Mazda6 in December, and a de-tuned version is planned for the Mazda3. The 2.5L petrol engine is not confirmed (although not denied).

Apparently it's a bit wider and longer but not heavier. Noise is reduced but not by much.

What....what have they done with the front wheel arches

Poor little mazda 3...they have taken away its agressiveness and transplanted the arches from a paddle steamer onto the poor thing
