Just put a deposit on the Maxx Sports

hi,

well just today i put a deposit for the Maxx Sports '08. the price was $29,100 for alarm/mats/tint and rear sensors.

i lurked around and theres seem to be some people that got it a lil bit cheaper, but i aint fussy about a few hundreds. outside being 40+ degrees does that to you :D

anyways, the reason why i made this post was during the negotiation something was bothering me, i felt that i was missing something and the fact that the dealership ran out of mazda 3 brochures made it worst.

i finally thought i had everything down, and now i realised what it was. its the DCS :(. is it too late to call them up now and ask for it free even though i already put a deposit? if it is, how much extra am i expecting?

well, the only feature i didnt name was that it's automatic i guess, but that's all there is.

damn, i really want the DCS. i'm planning to have this car for 5-6 years so the increase in safety would be great.

Depends on how long ago you put your deposit down you might be able to use the cooling off period to your advantage (the missus is always the best excuse)

The additional price for DSC is $1,000.

Well worth it if it saves your life even once.

I avoided having a major spin when I had to take evassive maneuvers to avoid a very large wombat after turning a blind corner on a country road at 100km/h

My mate in the passenger seat next to me could only say Holy Cr%p!

You might be able to negotiate it for half price maybe. Good Luck.

well i just put the deposit today.

so there's still 10 days cooling off period i guess, unless this dealership doesn't provide, which i highly doubt. since i assume its the law.

well, i can always bring my father tomorrow and used him as excuse. hopefully for free or at least at a cheaper price.

DSC is not a dealer fitted option. It must be fitted at the factory.

So unless they have another 08 Maxx sports in stock with DSC, you wont get it.

The DSC actually does a really good job when your tyres don't have the grip needed to make certain moves.

When im driving my car with 17" wheels and Low profile tyres, car grips fantastic. But my GF's mazda 3, if i do the same move, it activates the DSC... and when i turn the system off COMPLETELY, u can hear the tyres screaching.

In my Opinion, its WELL WORTH the money you pay. Thats why my GF got the Neo Sport Safety =)

i clearly remember asking him the difference between the sp23 and maxx, when he told me he ran out of the mazda 3 brochures.

at the time i wanted the sp23, but it was just a tad much.

he told the differences are the climate change air con, wheels, engine and some body and lights extras. should i used this advantage to tell him he didnt tell me about the DSC and TCS would not be included in the maxx?

this is the only honest and reasonable angle i got... :(

well today didn't solve the problem.

took the old man to see the dealer to discuss about the DSC, but the sp23 luxury AUTO '08 caught his eye and he told me to get it instead. dealer offered $33 500 inc. ORC/alarm/mats/tint and rear sensors. (i personally thought it was a good deal...)

dad flatly refused and they had a small negotiation where it didn't go anywhere and we decided to leave . dealer reminded us about the deposit and that we would lose it if we don't buy a car here. we replied no fuss its only 500, if we get a bargain that's nothing.

he then went on about a 5% liquidated damages they can charge us for failing to fulfill the contract and there's no cooling off period since we told them we were paying cash.

he gave us a copy of the contract and we left. while in the car listening to my dad's rant about me signing stuffs, i told him i didn't and when we checked there was no signature except the dealers. probably caused i told them i was planning to put it under my mother's name.

so what i want to know are, where is my legal stance here? can they charge us 5% due to the facts that i put a deposit down on behalf of my mum and had a verbal agreement, or me not ever reading the contract and never signed put the ball on my court?

what about the price he offered? i thought it was fair but the old man doesn't... (he wants it to be 30 000) i got a call later from the dealer saying that's his boss not here at the moment, and will call me tomorrow hopefully able to give me a good price.
