Price Check - SP23 hatch with auto & luxury pack

Took a SP23 for a test drive today and both myself and the missus were very impressed by the performance and general quality of the car. Before I put down my hard earned money, I was wondering how much I should be paying for a SP23 hatch with auto & luxury pack? I am located in Sydney.

I would be interested in hearing what sort of deals people have been getting lately. Feel free to PM me if you would prefer.

Welcome mate. I got a luxury manual for $31k back in March. This was for an 07 runout. I wouldnt be offering too much more for an auto.

G'day peoples.

I too am looking to get an SP23 sometime in the near future, though I want a manual. I'm after pretty much the same as colcha, but I want a manual, and I havnt decided between a hatch or sedan yet. And i'm looking for a brand new one.

Also, when would be the best time to buy? I've heard that the end of september would be a good time as it's the end of the month, and it's the end of the quarter.

Thanks.

(Yay! First post! I'm so great.)

I recently purchased a new SP23 Sedan Auto for 32,500 (includes alarm and reverse parking sensors). So id imagine that the luxury pack version would be between 34,000 and 35,000, depending on how much the dealer is willing to chop of the price.

Bit pricey...
We paid $29K on road for a late 07 built auto sedan demo (-lux pack $2K) with 3400ks back in Feb.

Have been offered a driveaway price of $33K for a new SP23 with auto / luxury pack. Very close to pulling the trigger but still have some residual concerns about a new model being just around the corner...

Good price. Cant help you with the new model issue, you'll just have to decide if you can wait, and remember you'll also be paying top dollar when it does come out.

Took the plunge today!! Picked up an SP23 with auto / luxury pack for $34,000 on the road. Price also includes:

- SP23 mats
- cargo tray
- auto lights
- bluetooth handsfree kit
- headlight protectors
- 4 year factory warranty

Some of the above items were included as part of Mazda's M Day promotion (even though that doesn't officially start until this coming Saturday).

Thanks for everyone's input - the countdown to delivery begins! .

Well done colcha...
From all reports the next model is still a long long way off hitting our shores.
The only thing that would kill our resale value is if they brought it out cheaper than current models which is unlikely.
Any details to share? Hatch or Sedan, Colour, Date?

Gavmando - how did you go today? Did you manage to bag a deal?

Snoop - with the way the Australian dollar is going at the moment, the chances of a price drop are becoming even more remote!

In the end, I went for the SP23 hatch with auto/luxury option. Choosing a colour was the toughest part! My CFO (aka wife) wanted black, I wanted white. The CFO won. That said, the black colour does look pretty classy. I wanted white as it has a "clean" look about it and takes dirt a lot better (I am not very diligent when it comes to washing cars).

Delivery of the SP23 is due in a week's time. The car is currently clearing customs, so it may even be here sooner. One of the dealers that I visited had the car available for immediate delivery though unfortunately there were some visible scratches on the passenger side door. Although the dealer indicated that this could be easily polished off, I declined - if I am going to buy a new car, I want it to be pristine!!

In the end, there were a few reasons why I decided not to wait for a new model:

1) I have a small garage and the current SP23 fits perfectly. Given the longer wheelbase of the newer model, chances are that I would struggle to fit the replacement model in;
2) I would prefer not to purchase the first generation of a new model. I am happy for someone to iron out the kinks for me;
3) As Charlaton pointed out, initial demand for the new model would mean smaller discounts and potentially longer waiting lists; and
4) Most importantly, I am too impatient to wait

Well, I bought myself a car yesterday.

I got myself an Aurora blue, manual sedan with the luxury pack.
I got the M-day pack:
-Bluetooth
-Auto lights
-Headlight protectors
-4 years warranty
And I also got:
-Reverse parking sensors
-Floor mats

And I couldnt be more chuffed. It was such a buzz buying a car. I've never bought a car before, just kind of inherited them from the old's.

They should have it in by friday, so i'll be good to go. I cant wait!
