| | | Was Wishihadamazda3girl | | | | Car: Mazda3 MaxxSport 2008.5 | | | Mazda 3 - Sedan or Hatch Opinions Please Hi there,
Looking at updating my car, it is about to die. I've always wanted a Mazda 3, and used to really want a sedan, but the hatch is slowly growing on me too now.
What in your opinion, would be the pros and cons of both? I know I need to test drive to see what I think, but your ideas would be appreciated to give me something to think about.
I think i heard the sedan has slightly more volume in the boot, but the hatch has a bigger opening. I havent owned a hatch before and was a bit concerned if someone parked too close whether it could be opened?
No kids yet, but possibly in 3 years. Hope to own the car 5 years, so i guess this will need to be taken into consideration too eventually.
Unfortunately need the car within the next month or two as my car wont last through to the new model Mazda 3 next year.
My fiance wants me to look at Toyota Corollas as well, but I think the Mazda would win out... Any comments would be appreciated on this too.
Cheers! |

the mazda wins in most aspects against a corolla IMO, except maybe for price and perhaps fuel efficiency (but don't quote me on that).
and for the record...SEDAN!!! |

| | | LoLfred is free | | Location: Sydney- Sans Souci | | | | I have to say No to the price. The cheapest price you can pick a corolla up.. auto + on roads is around 23900.
You can pick up a neo sport auto, after ALOT of haggling for 23500 =P
As crackerman said.. personal choice.
um.. and yeh.. HATCH FTW |

Sedan FTW. |

| | | Hatch FTW! | | Location: Sherwood, Brisbane | | Car: 05 SP23 W/Lux Pack (Sun Silver hatch) | | | The hatch has a bigger opening and since you can drop the back seats there's HEAPS more room in the back for longer items. the sedan has a deeper boot (so i've heard). i think the hatch looks more sporty than the sedan but the sedan looks a little more classy in my opinion. both have plenty of room for the kiddies in the back when you have them and i'm not sure about the sedan but the hatch has baby seat anchor points in all three seats in the back (i assume the sedan is the same)
and yeah.. personally i'd go with the hatch (for sheer practicality and the fact that i'm biased! lol) :-P |

FTW
Nuff said.
Actually nuff not said. I personally like the sedan because I think it looks like it was originally designed as a sedan. Looks more natural. Plus Im not a huge fan of hatches. If you want sporty/more rear space then go the hatch, if you want classy go the sedan, to each their own, everyones got a different opinion.

Mazda 3 Maxx sport HATCH mt weight: 1,265-1,267 kg
20kgs so basically when youre in the hatch it drives like your 20kg fatter |

| | | LoLfred is free | | Location: Sydney- Sans Souci | | | | But in a hatch, you can turn the whole back area into a boot =D
I believe when they were designing the concept for the 3, it started life as a hatch =p
There are more curves on the hatch.. hence sexier =P
I have to admit though.. the sedan is lighter.. NFI why.. -_-" but like the look of the hatch.. People say hot hatch... no one says hot sedan =P |

| | | Was Wishihadamazda3girl | | | | Car: Mazda3 MaxxSport 2008.5 | | | Just for your info. Looking at Maxx Sport Manual at this stage, vs Toyota Corolla Conquest Manual. I personally think the corolla looks bland vs Mazda 3.
Mechanically, would the mazda be a better car or are they very similar? |

| | | AKA Mac Daddy | | | | Car: Mazda3 Maxx Sport 2006 | | | Corolla? Ewww.
Just seen this, cargo boot space difference is about 100 litres.
Mazda 3 Maxx sport SEDAN mt boot: 416 litres
Mazda 3 Maxx sport HATCH mt boot: 300 litres
But as DA said, the back seats can be folded down to fit more.
But then again I folded down my back seats and fit a massive poker table in there! It really has a good size boot for such a small car. |

| | | My name is Neo | | | | | | | Hatch FTW.
Why?
Looks sporty (especially in Phantom Purple)
Wheels magazine quoted that the hatch taillight looks like a spaceship...hehehe
Easy to park the car
If you modify it, would look even better |
