Eset NOD32 all the way, if set up right it's one of the best you can get. AVG is good aswell, but I prefer NOD32.

Mine came with Trend Micro. Still got heaps of subscription left, but it really is a system hog!! Fairly cheap if I remember correctly.

I'll ask around at work and see what the gravins have to say.

ive always used symantec antivirus corporate edition and never had an issue. In saying that i have used other brands at work including trendmicro, sophos, symantec, ca.

Ive found that the corporate version of symantec is not too much oy a system resource hog

I've been using Kaspersky for about 7 years now, and I can honestly say I've had 1 virus in that time, basically because everyone else in the world was also affected (can't remember the name). I pay about $35 a year, and you barely even notice its there. By far the best in my opinion

I've been using AVG for a long time now, I'm a huge fan, its always been up to date, never a resource hog and a new free version every year.

Ive used it on all my customer's computers and all my work computers.

I used to use norton back in 2000 but since then its become a huge POS.... I know someone who works for norton, and they use AVG at home

Isn't AVG phasing out the free home version?

ok peeps the cheapest and used the less resources is McAfee Virus scan plus at US$35 for 1 full year and I like it cos it uses very little resources, it came stock on my Acer Aspire One for 2 months only and then I will renew it for 1 year after.

Way better than any I have ever used and does not hog the system down, not even a intel core solo Atom chip like the Aspire One.

Try it, u will love it!

Antivirus, Firewall, Spyware Protection | McAfee VirusScan Plus

mcafee is not the best nor is it the lightest on system resources either. Palo i think you should do some more research if you think mcafee is good.

Not that I'm aware of (as a dealer)
However, when the version you have installed is obseleted you will have to completely remove it, download the newest version and install that. This happens every 18months to 2 years; I think the reason people think that free is being phased out is that the notifications and web links all tend to point you to a commercial version.
AVG Free - Download antivirus and antispyware software for Windows XP and Vista (free.grisoft.com) will take you straight where you need to go...

From another Sys admin's point of view...

Use AVG.......

The others simply require too much CPU/RAM to operate efficiently.

I think AVG are bringing out a new version that see's windwos Vista as a virus!LOL sorry nerd jokes!

AVG 8.0, have been using a number of versions over the years.

Go to MajorGeeks.com - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities. and check out what the community recommends, typically AVG always gets a hot pick or highly rated. And yes its still free! You do have the option of purchaseing a full internet suite, but that gives you Spyware, anti virus, firewall etc

For sure I agree, I'm a big supporter of Eset NOD32. Get it on torrent, free unlimited updates or PM me and I'll email it to ya.

Same i'm still using NAV Corporate. . works great, small footprint. . personally would probably prefer to use AVG. . but untill NAV misses something i'll be fine. i agree NAV used to be Laggy and a resourcehog but i've also heard they're ALOT better now days

for Malware/Keylogger/pop-ups etc... use Spybot Search&Destroy....BEST prog around FTW

filehippo is a nice place to look for the MOST updated PC progs..mainly freeware, but some commercial

current Fav is CCleaner. . great for cleaning out all those temp..etc file that are NOT need and are just taking up space and Loading time on your HDD(used to use System Mechanic but it turned into bloatware for awhile..SysMechver8 might be ok but haven't tested it as yet)

SuperAntiSpyware usually found a few leftovers that Spybopt didn't. But I keep Spybot around since it does immunisations. Another AVG user here too.

Another worthwhile thing to do is disable cookies in the web browser & add only trustworthy sites that need to use cookies to function/login to the exceptions list.
