| | | | Car: Little Jamie (3 MaSp) | | like I said it is a profession based on lifestyle decisions. You cannot compare the sort of work we do to anything people do on the ground, it is totally different. Different people interaction. You cannot work slow in my industry all bank workers will fail in my industry as they are used to slow pace of work, in my industry we work very fast, things happen very quickly, no delays everything must flow smoothly as well as very quickly. Bank staff take their time in doing things, people who work in banks have no concept of "time is of essence"
ever see bank staff walking all over the place holding one document? What a waste of time. oh and forms after forms after forms mountains of forms. and staff walking around holding nothing but forms and normally you have to wait for a long time for them to look at nothing but your forms and do not even ask, fill out a form.

actually journalist do make very good money, those 60 mins ch 9 journalist make about $650,000 a year and all that for interviewing people on TV. heck they make more money than pilots, who usually have 400 life to account for depending on type of aircraft.
peeps should learn not to disrespect other people's profession and diss them as stupid or incapable of understanding anything else outside their work. You'd be surprised how many peeps know things outside their work even more so then what they do for a living.

************************************************** ********
Brace yourselves peeps, new laws to be introduced will allow employers to read your emails without your consent at work, this is regardless of whether or not it was yahoo or your employers' mails fact is access at work using work access will now by law, in the name of national security be allowed perusal by employers, essentially, this means employers can now spy on you, courtesy of national security laws.
One way around this is to buy one of them asus eeepc, cloud books or the like and, using Voda HSDPA plans, you can plug into your little UMPC to access your sensitive stuff and password protect your eeepc at the BIOS level. And no one can access your private laptop and your private HSDPA account, at work, without a warrant from a magistrate which they have to show probable cause for issuance of such warrants anyways.
Anyways I let u read all about it and you decide. Bosses' power to check email
Tom Allard National Security Editor
April 14, 2008 COMPANIES will be able to intercept the emails and internet communications of their employees without their consent under new laws being considered by the Federal Government to protect the nation's critical infrastructure from a cyber attack.
The proposed powers, which the Government wants in place by the middle of next year and which could affect millions of workers, have been slammed as an unprecedented and unjustifiable intrusion on civil liberties.
The Attorney-General, Robert McClelland, acknowledges concerns but said the powers were a necessary bulwark against a growing threat to national security.
Mr McClelland told the Herald he had been advised that an attack to disable computer networks that sustained the financial system, stock exchange, electricity grid and transport system "would reap far greater economic damage than would be the case of a physical [terrorist] attack".
The Government is developing counter-measures, including amending the Telecommunications (Interceptions) Act to allow companies and others operating critical infrastructure to monitor emails and other internet communications without their workers' consent.
The act allows only security agencies to monitor their employees' communications without consent. That power expires at the end of June next year and Mr McClelland said he wanted the new legislation to include companies providing services critical to the economy.
"At least 90 per cent of networks exist outside government but there's no powers for corporate network supervisors to intercept such communications unless they have specific authority from the employee," he told the Herald.
"It's unquestionable that it's necessary from time to time for network supervisors to open emails addressed to people to identify viruses and the like …
"There needs to be protocols and guidelines developed so companies can protect their own networks.
"It will need new legislation."
Mr McClelland said there had already been instances of hackers infiltrating sensitive systems in Australia.
"There's no question that breaches of both government and private sector computer networks have occurred already - in some instances as a result of mischief, in some instances to obtain security-sensitive information and in some cases to obtain commercial information."
He said it was difficult to track electronic attackers.
He cited an attack by hackers in Estonia last year that, in effect, shut down its Government for almost two weeks.
They used thousands of computers controlled through viruses - known as botnets - to simultaneously access an Estonian Government website, overwhelming the server and crashing its entire network.
Mr McClelland said he would consult unions, privacy experts and civil libertarians before introducing the laws.
Dale Clapperton, the chairman of Electronic Frontiers Australia, a non-profit group concerned with the rights of individual internet users, was unimpressed.
"These new powers will facilitate fishing expeditions into employees' emails and computer use rather than being used to protect critical infrastructure," Mr Clapperton said.
"I'm talking about corporate eavesdropping and witch-hunts … If an employer wanted to bone [sack] someone, they could use these powers."
Mr McClelland said Australia would send people to the US to help with a project to tackle electronic attacks. Hackers have infiltrated networks of the Pentagon and intelligence agencies.
The Secretary of the US Department of Homeland Security, Michael Chertoff, said the problem needed an approach similar in scale to the Manhattan Project, which led to the creation of atomic weapons. This story was found at: Bosses' power to check email - National - smh.com.au

these days, people will kill for anything: Nuts the motive in killing, court told
Les Kennedy
April 14, 2008 - 2:07PM
A dispute over a packet of pistachio nuts triggered a fight outside a Sydney hotel in which a man was beaten to death, a Supreme Court jury was told today.
The victim, off-duty security guard Hunuki "John" Tamapeau, 25, went to the aid of his future brother-in-law William McColl, who had refused to give some of his nuts to stranger Damien Peter Hopper.
Hopper, 26, appeared in the Sydney Supreme Court today charged with Tamapeau's murder.
Both men were among two groups of males who had been refused entry to the Mortdale Hotel at 3.55am on Saturday April 30, 2005.
Hopper had been out celebrating that night with fellow players from a St George region rugby league team.
"The Crown case is that the accused Mr Hopper became irritated by the deceased's refusal to give him a pistachio nut," Crown Prosecutor Virginia Lydiard said in her opening address to a jury of six men and six women before Justice Peter McClellan.
The trial continues. This story was found at: Nuts the motive in killing, court told - National - smh.com.au

I found this little tid bit on a pmp made by MPIO
Here---> Readle Gadgets: PMP: MPIO V10
It is pretty similar to the Sammy P2 and Iriver W7 category, touch screen, 3" TFT etc.
Funny thing is MPIO is a Chinese company, but this item is Korean made and owned.
Or maybe MPIO had sold to Koreans.
the Mpio.com website says nothing about this player, however, it has a catalogue of very hideous mp3 players with absolutely no clue what people want. |
16th April 2008, 12:44 AM
| | | Member | | | | | | | yeah i've seen that one for a while now and it was tempting at first but since the lack of quality within most of the MPIO range i'm thinking i might doge this one and stick to my cowon d2 for the time being until the 16gb samsung p2 is released.
edit: just read more on the specs and it supports VOB which is pretty awesome for that player i must admit and you will probably wanting to use the SDHC cards

| | | | Car: Little Jamie (3 MaSp) | | | funny how iriver had so many goodies at the Consumer Electronics Show and then only to be told later that the majority will not be available outside korea or release date is 2009 or after. I wonder if this company is serious about making money at all.
Same for apple, if it was very serious about making money, than it would not have delayed and delayed release of iphone, the 3G iphone is bound to have very short battery life, that was the first reason why they did not want a 3G version initially, like 2 years ago. Goodness me, by the time it is released in Australia, some cave dwelling Australians will be proudly holding their 3 years old technology known as iphone and trust me, David Jones and Myer will sell it as though it is brand new technology.
And I am sure the telcos will want u to sign a 36 month business plan of $99 a month plus another $30 a month for the phone hardware for this piece of 3 year old technology

Also Dark, when you get your little asus eee here's a site to overclock your celeron as though it runs on paper 900 ghz, asus only made the bios do 650 ghz, so u might want to overclock it if u want several apps running, make sure u have enough rams : max 2 gig, and u have to ditch stock 1 gig. Overclock will not make it fly and will shorten battery life and do it at your own risk Cyb3rGlitch Tutorials | How to Overclock the ASUS Eee PC (XP/Vista)

according to intel website, wiMax is a new standard and will of course replace wi fi in the near future, imagine a hotspot the size of a city! WiMax Flash intro shows some upcoming intel built mobile internet devices also---> here
The last paragraph from the intel website when u follow the above link, says it will be rolled out in Japan and Russia.
What the bloody hell is the government doing when things like that can be rolled out in Russia before Australia?
We are definitely falling behind in Technology when Russia can have WiMax before Australia and when actually DVB-H live digital tv broadcast (as opposed to streaming, which is old technology known as NextGen) on mobile phones are available in Italy and South Africa. Somebody please get rid of telstra once and for all. They would rather sit and watch us fall into stone age then build new technologies for the eventual progress of the country and as well as profit from it.
All in the name of 'well we will do it if it is going to return the shareholders X amount of dollars, not y amount of dollars'. the government should just take control of this nasty bug called telstra, disinfect it with anti biotics and give it back to the people.
What a dirty dirty greedy bastard.

it can collect about 215 litres of water when hang outside the house on a rainy day , what u do with the water is your business and the tap at the bottom allows you to access the water.
You can also use it as a water cooler just put the them thing in the kitchen and collect cups of water at the tap below. I think you turn clockwise or anticlock wise to release the water. About US$180 each.

Anyways 2nd hand SP rims are not so expensive to buy when peeps upgrade to 18 etc. Jamie got her esprit 17 from a member here on omc yonks ago and it was a good deal for all 4s but then I need only 1 but if all 4s are at a screaming bargain, I'll get it for Jamie. |

| | | | Car: Little Jamie (3 MaSp) | | I only need one as of now, but if prices are screaming good, might get them all in one go, but 2 years ago when I got it off a member it was $--- for all 4 some said it was still dear but I could not be bothered then.
Bear in mind that was 2 years ago. Surely prices for circa 04/05 esprit rims have dropped since. These days peeps buy 2nd hand snow flakes, but I have to stick to same design since I need one. but if I was switching all fours, then it's open to options. Yours not scrached at all?

THE FORBIDDEN KINGDOM is now released everywhere in United States
Jet Li has team up with Jacky Chan for the 1st time pitting each other in martial arts but the story centres around a western teenager who mystically got transported to ancient china where he has only so little time to master martial arts and special powers to pit against evil.
The lead actor, surprisingly is unknown Shia LeBeauf lookalike (Transformers) Michael Angarano and obviously commands less money. Jacky Chan and Jet Li are just supporting actors.
Lots of special effects, big Hollywood budget and many martial arts to watch which makes croaching Tiger Hidden Dragon a walk in Hyde Park.
When will Australia get this movie? Maybe never. Look for it when it gets released on DVD in America just about Christmas time in America.

There is now reports that the new 3G iphone will be very different in looks to the older model. Times Online is reporting that the next-gen 3G iPhone will surprise Apple fans with a "radically different" appearance to the current offering.
According to a business article on the site: "Industry sources told Times Online that the device will have a 'radically different' appearance to the current device, which has a 4.5-inch [sic] screen and slick, aluminium backing".
"Among the possibilities are flip version, which would enable the screen to be larger, and a sliding model with a regular Qwerty keyboard - as opposed to a touchscreen one."
The article also states Apple has placed an order with its Asian suppliers to produce 200,000 of the new 3G iPhones by the end of May, rising to 2 million in June.
The 3G version of Apple's mobile phone is due in 2008, with June, which would mark the year anniversary of the device's launch (in UK), hotly tipped to be the month it debuts. *this publicly available information is sourced from pocket Lint, UK
