Correct. The car is quite a bit larger all around. Not much carries over.

you don't need a V6. the L5 engine is perfect for the car. whilst you miss torque, it's revvy and when the VCT comes in it goes really well

you need the v6

the v6 also has 6 cylinders, and hence sounds better

God I love the torque in my MPS, so easy to drive. I'll never go back to a revy (low torque) engine again

im sorry, when did this turn into a mps turbo v6 na v6 comparison?

And to ivan89, did i mention displacement, no, i said number of cyls, my tiny 2.5 will hold its own very well against larger engines displacement motors, and sounds a hell of a lot better than any 4cyl

well by that theory the rb20de put in R31 skylines should sound awesome, considering it's a 6cyl..

r31 vs mazda3?

i'm gonna stick with the 3 and say it sounds a ton better.

as far as your car goes, i can't be a judge, how ever to go as far as saying it sounds better than ANY 4cyl might be just a little far fetched mate.

The 31's came with a rb30de or a rb20det, and yes, even the low tech 30 sounds better than an econobox

LOLOLOLOL

we said mazda V6

i GUARANTEE my V6 sounds better than 99% of NA 4 cyl mazda engines, apart from race motors. RB engines sound good when mounted to a proper exhaust and headers, as well as a manual box. They sound intense when boosted with a mild external gate.

The motor in the Sp23 is a good motor, but it lacks that depth. Get some extractors and an exhaust on there and it sounds ok, but its still missing the raw agressiveness of the mazda V6's

The V6 929's are awesome as well, and i doubt many on this forum have heard a eunos 800 on full boost. 4 cyl are good ... but they still sound like 4 cylinders. You have to do a fair bit of work to get that ooomph sound behind them

To further my point.

i love it how i somehow steered this toward skylines!
just so we are clear..

R31 Skyline - Aus spec came with a RB30E (single cam). The R31 Pintara came with a CA20E (four cylinder)
HR31 Skyline - Japan Spec - came with a myriad of different engine options. ranging from a CA18S (carburetted) to a RB20DET. Depdening on what spec you bought, they even sold them with a RD28 diesel engine.
In South Africa the R31 was sold with a RB30S (carburetted RB30)
Nissan never (mass) produced a RB30DE. Yet it is a popular choice with modifiers to use a RB30 block with a RB25DET or RB26DETT head.

Please note. The American spec Mazda 6 engine is actually a FOMOCO usa engine. please don't compare it to the JE v6 or the KJ/KL v6's out of early mazda's.
