Mazda bringing Circuit Trial RX-8, Demio and Atenza to Tokyo Auto Salon

Traditionally, Mazda has a large presence at the Tokyo Auto Salon, and the 2009 show won't be any different. Mazda will have 13 vehicles on hand in January to showcase the automaker's continued commitment to its "zoom-zoom" philosophy, along with concepts carrying the theme (and we quote) "Driving-oriented environmental technologies for endless driving pleasure." Mkay.

Headlining the show will be three "Circuit Trial" models, including an RX-8, Demio and Atenza (Mazda6), along with the all-new Mazda Roadster (MX-5) kitted out in NR-A trim and packing Bilstein dampers along with other race-ready parts. Mazda hasn't released any details on what the Circuit Trial models will consist of, but its safe to assume that reworked suspensions, brakes, fascias and engine components will be part of the package.

The other featured model this year is the Mazda Biante people mover, which benefits from production accessories provide by Wagonist, Rota, DAMD, Kenstyle and others. Mazda also plans to show of its Premacy Hydrogen RE Hybrid concept and will be exhibiting the new 2010 Mazda3 in Japan for the first time. The show gets underway January 9th and runs through the 11th. Check the press release below the fold for all the details.

Maxda should make the MX5 a rotary. it's so small and light weight as it is... if it had a 13B or even the proposed 18B ( if it ever arives ) from the RX9 concept... that would fly.... i want one just thinking about it...

Question for everyone....
Is anyone going the the Tokyo Auto Salon? if so... TAKE AS MANY PHOTO'S AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE.

the v6 mazda 6 wrecks the balance of the car. Front becomes too heavy and is very difficult.

You've driven one?

Maybe I should swap my v6 for an I4 626 working on that theory :)

Not to mention the only V6 Mazda6s are made in the US with all the associated quality problems with US made cars.

Well, I am not talking rubbish about the previous model and while they may have improved in leaps and bounds I wouldn't be surprised if they are not there yet. They had a huge issue with rust in the door cavity due to a 'manufacturing error'. Not to mention other 'quality control' issues that seem to afflict the US models that are unheard of in the Japanese made cars. I have read it on many forums over the years that the Michigan manufactured 6 is not quite as reliable etc as the Japanese model. I was not saying that it is a bad car, just that it may be of no surprise that the build quality/plastic quality/fit etc of the car may not be up to the standard of the Japanese made models. However I am sure it will still be better than many of the other cars made in the US when it comes to fit and finish!!

All you need to do is take a look inside a Honda Accord and an Accord Euro to see what I mean. You can see, and more importantly feel the difference in the plastics quality etc between the Thailand built Accord and the Japanese Euro in an almost identical looking interior. It is just like with BMWs, you can tell which ones are made in Germany as opposed to the ones made in the US and South Africa.

It is good to see Mazda doing their best on keeping the rotary alive with their hydrogen rotary powered models. Especially since the rotary engine is more suited to hydrogen than a conventional piston engine. The Premacy RX hybrid sounds interesting. I don't know if I like the look of the RX8 above though. I am hoping it will grow on me...
