    Series 2, where are you?

Well the current model Mazda 6 has been out for a while now and it got me wondering when Mazda will release a series 2?

well, i did hear there was one coming later this year, or early next year, and there may be a V6 option. but they are complete rumours, which i have been unable to prove or disprove.

Wasn't the 2009 Jan model already series 2, with the retuned engine that can use 91RON fuel and afew accessory upgrades? If you go on car sites and search there that's what they are listed as now... As for mid life face lift maybe it's not due till next year?
It takes a forum crash to get me to change my nick to match my changed car

The Jan 2009 was more a 're-specification' than a series 2 and didn't add anything to the 6 that wasn't already available in other markets. Mazda have often done this at a start of a new calander year to 're-align' their cars with the competition! As far as I am concerned it will not be a 'series 2' until it has it's mid cycle facelift. If it wasn't for Ford and Holden with their obsession with the 'Series 2' models, we would only be talking in facelift or pre-facelift. Especially Holden as it is a big part of their marketing strategy. Either that or the majority of the market is that gullible!

Whats the diff between a series 1 and 2 and a pre and post facelift?

Holden have also changed to MY numbering since the VE model.

next year we should get facelift 6. and there will not be a V6 option for anywhere but the north american market. No you cannot engineer the V6 into a car from another market as the Mazda6 in north america is built on a different platform.

So did we decide that a facelifted model will come out some time next year? If so will it get the stupid smiley treatment?

Well if you didn't realise, its left hand drive :-) This is the euro model btw, hence the euro plates. Those plates were the original plates on the base image i used.
